Meet Our Team
Every member of our team has been positively impacted by the programs and opportunities provided through Santa Barbara Police Activities League, and are honored to carry on this important legacy of community service for future generations of Santa Barbara youth.
Judie Lugo
Executive Director
“My SBPAL Story began 17 years ago when one positive interaction with law enforcement changed the course of my life. What started as a part-time job grew into a career, where the same mentorship and support that were invested in me are now what I strive to give back. As a proud graduate of La Cuesta Continuation High School, I know firsthand the power of opportunity, guidance, and believing in young people.”
Ruth Fuentes
Youth Development Coordinator
“My SBPAL Story began as a youth in the junior high sports program, back before PAL had the wonderful space at the Twelve35 Teen Center. Soon after, I joined the Youth Leadership Council, which helped shape my leadership and confidence. Even while attending college and working full time at a local business during the day, I stayed connected to PAL, working part-time to give back to the place that gave me so much. Now, as Youth Development Coordinator, I get to mentor the next generation of youth just like I once was.”
Antonio Solis
Recreational Specialist
“My SBPAL Story began when I started coming to the PAL Teen Center as a youth. The programs and mentors here gave me a safe place to grow and connect. I later joined the Youth Leadership Council, which helped me build leadership skills and confidence. Today, I’m proud to serve as Recreational Specialist, giving back to the same program that shaped me.”
Jesse Cuevas
Program Manager
”My SBPAL story began in early 2025 when I joined the team as the Program Manager. Right away, I could see how much everyone here truly cares about the youth, and how much the youth enjoy being with them too. In just a short time, this space has given me so many opportunities to grow and learn. The skills I’ve developed and the meaningful moments I’ve shared with the youth are experiences I deeply value and will carry with me always.”
Linda Lara
Administrative Assistant
“My SBPAL Story started when I came in just to complete the community service hours required for high school. What I didn’t expect were the connections, interactions, and friendships that quickly brought me closer to PAL. Today, I’m grateful to continue as Administrative Assistant, welcoming our youth, families, and community partners to the space that has become like a second home.”

Meet The SBPAL Camaro
The SBPAL Camaro was initially acquired as part of Santa Barbara Police Activities League’s DRAGG program (Drag Racing Against Gangs & Graffiti), a special youth automotive after-school program that encourages kids to stay in high school and work toward graduation by providing an incentive in the automotive industry through career exploration.
A dedicated group of volunteers and community supporters pooled resources together to acquire the retired racing vehicle through the DRAGG program, and worked side by side with Santa Barbara youth to carefully restore it.
SBPAL’s DRAGG program was retired in 2020, and today the SBPAL Camaro acts as an unofficial mascot for the organization. You’ll spot it at local events, and driving around town as it provides transportation for special occasions.
